How are our high-quality SUPs manufactured?
CALA stands for high-quality premium SUPs that we produce according to German quality standards. A significant portion of the production process is done by hand to bring you the best boards onto the waters.
In addition to our quality standards, we place a strong emphasis on protecting our water bodies. That's why our boards feature sustainable EVA decks made from algae. The production of each deck pad cleans up 450 liters of water and 280 cubic meters of air.

From PVC Layer to High-Quality Double Layer SUP
The production of our boards follows the highest German quality standards. To meet these standards, a significant portion of the process is carried out by hand.
The Production of Our Boards in 10 Steps:
- The board contour is machine-cut with Double Layer Dropstitch, including inner/outer rail tape for lateral reinforcement of the PVC (Tarpaulin Layer).
- Before proceeding to the next production step, the Dropstitch Layer is manually cut.
- Designs are silk-printed by hand on the top and bottom surfaces as well as the sides of our boards.
- Once printed, the 1st layer of the inner rail tape is assembled, including seam bonding and valve attachment.
- To enhance the airtightness of the boards, the 2nd layer is machine heat-welded.
- For board reinforcement, the side panels are manually glued, and excess air is pressed out by hand-drying the adhesive surfaces with a special dryer.
- Sustainable BLOOM EVA decks are machine-cut and hand-applied to the boards. To ensure a secure fit of the decks, glue is applied to the top of the boards and the EVA decks, then brought together.
- Accessories like D-rings, handles, bungee cords, fin box, and camera mount are hand-glued onto the boards.
- Before leaving production, each board undergoes an inflation test.
- Once the test is passed, the board moves into packaging. There, the boards are first cleaned, deflated, and then lovingly prepared for shipping with great care. 😎
Sustainable Algae Deck Pad
The protection of humans, the environment, and nature is of utmost priority at CALA. For this reason, all CALA board decks are produced using a thermoplastic production process based on algae.
