FAQ

We answer the most frequently asked questions about our CALA boards.

HOW DURABLE IS A CALA BOARD IN TERMS OF LIFESPAN AND DURABILITY?

We have conducted countless material and stress tests to develop extremely robust boards for you. A CALA board is a fantastic and resilient companion for all your journeys and adventures. If you handle your board gently and carefully, you'll enjoy it for a long time.

CAN I LEARN HOW TO SURF ON A CALA BOARD?

Absolutely! There are many great beginner videos and valuable tips and training available on YouTube. Many SUP schools worldwide opt for inflatable boards as they are lightweight and minimize the risk of injury significantly.

ARE INFLATABLE BOARDS COMPARABLE TO HARD BOARDS?

When your board is properly inflated, you'll hardly notice a difference in classic stand-up paddling compared to a rigid board. For high-performance surfing, you might need to adjust your style slightly as inflatable boards behave a bit differently, but they are still very manageable. The main advantage remains the ability to fold your board and transport it efficiently, taking it anywhere you want. Our boards love traveling and water adventures.

HOW LONG CAN I LEAVE THE BOARD INFLATED WITHOUT DEFLATING IT?

Over time, there will be a certain pressure loss, especially with significant temperature fluctuations. Before heading onto the water, check the pressure and stability and refill the air if necessary. Make sure your board isn't exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods, and if you're not using it for a while, reduce the pressure to less than 10 psi.

HOW MUCH PRESSURE DOES THE BOARD NEED?

Our boards are designed to withstand a significant amount of pressure. You'll achieve optimal results on the water with 15-18 psi. While our boards can handle a bit more pressure, it's not necessary at all. Higher pressure doesn't increase the stiffness or stability of the board. It just makes it harder to press the valve for deflation and takes longer to inflate the board. For general use, 15-18 psi is optimal. Faster and more advanced riders might benefit from pressure closer to 15 psi.

HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY BOARD?

Simply treat your board like a good friend, and it will remain in good condition. Ideally, rinse your board with fresh water after a trip and protect it from direct sunlight. When at home, store it loosely rolled, and you'll have long-lasting enjoyment.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE REPAIR KIT?

In the unlikely event that you accidentally puncture your board, the included repair kit provides adhesive and patches to repair your board. The best results are achieved when the adhesive cures overnight. We've also included the necessary tool to detach the valve if needed.

CAN SUN AND HEAT CAUSE THE BOARD TO OVER-INFLATE?

No, but we recommend not exposing the board to direct sunlight for extended periods. By following this advice, your board will remain in great shape for a long time.

WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO STORE MY BOARD?

You can store your board either loosely rolled in the bag or inflated. If you're not using your board for an extended period, we recommend storing it loosely rolled in a cool, dry place.
